War was raging.

The motherland had no peace even though just got freedom in August 1945.  The troops of AFNEI, owned by Ally-NICA, went to Indonesia and cracked power forces to be three divisions: Indian Division 23 (occupied West Java and the head in Jakarta); Indian Division 5 (East Java and the head in Surabaya); and Indian Division 26 (Sumatra and the head in Medan).

Declining those, the people made resistance. Each group was forming paramilitary troops for guarding security in their territory.

Terror and physical clash were inevitable. But the resistance was still not easy because every paramilitary troop that under the coordination of political party had a special interest, besides of strongly foreign military power.

Thus, The Indonesian government tried to establish an army as an integration form of armed forces. The figure of Soedirman emerged at that time.

As long the struggle was efforted, Soedirman that had military skills from PETA followed in war.

When the troops of Ally-NICA occupied Ambarawa territory in October 1945, the role of Soedirman was important. The commander in chief TKR slowly tried to integrate the combatants that separated from the others.

He doctrine one same purpose to the combatants: Ally and Dutch was defeated.

Then, Soedirman was forming The Center Headquarters of Battlefield Coordination (MPKP) in Magelang. The purpose was to manage strategy in facing the concentration defense of Ally-NICA in Ambarawa.

After all being concentrated, Soedirman collected the commander of TKR and the commander of paramilitary troops agency on 11 December 1945, particularly at 8 PM.

The forum discussed planning the mass attack for liberating Ambarawa city. TKR, paramilitary troops, and student soldiers joined for fighting the enemy with the “Supit Urang” tactic under MPKP (Juli Suspurwanto, Jurnal Strategi Pertahanan Semesta, Vol. 6 No. 1 Tahun 2000).

The result was the soldiers could take Ambarawa and seized the ally forces until they back off to Semarang.
